PDP Suspends Caretaker Chairman Over Alleged Links With Wike

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has suspended the Caretaker Committee Chairman in Rivers State, Hon. Nname Robinson Ewor, over allegations that he aligned himself with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
The party said the suspension affects Ewor both as Caretaker Chairman and as a member of the PDP, citing actions it described as capable of undermining the party’s structure and stability in Rivers State.
Following the decision, the Secretary of the Rivers State Caretaker Committee, Chief Ogbam Ojimah, has assumed leadership of the committee in an acting capacity.
Speaking after an emergency meeting of the Caretaker Committee held on Saturday, Ojimah stated that Ewor had effectively relinquished his position by openly associating with Wike, who he said had been expelled from the party.
He reaffirmed the committee’s loyalty to the national leadership of the PDP, led by Ambassador Umar Damagum, stressing that the party’s position on Wike remains unchanged and that any form of engagement with him is unacceptable.
Ojimah further maintained that Wike has no authority to interfere in the internal affairs of the PDP, adding that the Rivers State Caretaker Committee has formally dissociated itself from Ewor’s actions.
The party leadership reiterated its commitment to protecting the PDP’s interests in Rivers State and warned that disciplinary measures would be taken against any member found engaging in activities contrary to party directives.
