Kebbi Governor Enacts ₦642.9bn 2026 Budget Into Law

The Governor of Kebbi State has signed the ₦642.9 billion 2026 Appropriation Bill into law, setting the fiscal direction of the state for the coming financial year.

The signing ceremony took place after the budget was passed by the Kebbi State House of Assembly, following weeks of legislative scrutiny and debate. The governor commended lawmakers for what he described as a timely and thorough consideration of the estimates.

According to details of the approved budget, a significant portion of the allocation is dedicated to capital expenditure, with priority given to infrastructure development, agriculture, education, healthcare, and social welfare programmes. The remaining portion is earmarked for recurrent expenditure, including salaries, overheads, and the running of government institutions.

The governor stated that the 2026 budget was designed to consolidate ongoing development projects while addressing critical needs across the state. He assured residents that the administration would focus on prudent financial management and effective implementation to ensure value for money.

He also pledged continued collaboration with the State Assembly to ensure smooth execution of the budget, stressing that transparency and accountability would guide the spending process.

In their remarks, lawmakers reaffirmed their commitment to oversight and promised to monitor budget implementation to ensure that approved funds are utilised in line with legislative intent.

The enactment of the budget formally authorises the state government to commence spending in the 2026 fiscal year in accordance with the approved estimates.
