APC Chairman Names Abimbola Tooki Special Adviser on Media, Communication

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nentawe Yilwatda, has appointed veteran journalist Abimbola Tooki as Special Adviser on Media and Communication Strategy.

The APC disclosed the appointment in an official statement released on Monday, noting that the decision was informed by Yilwatda’s confidence in Tooki’s extensive professional experience and his ability to deploy strategic communication to enhance party unity and public engagement.

According to the party, the appointment is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen its communication framework and improve interactions with party members, stakeholders, and the wider public.

Speaking on his new role, Tooki expressed gratitude to the APC leadership for the confidence placed in him, describing the appointment as an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the party’s public communication efforts.

He said he looks forward to applying his background in journalism and media strategy to improve the party’s messaging and engagement across various platforms.

Tooki is an experienced journalist and media strategist with a strong background in newsroom leadership. He previously served as Editor of BusinessWorld Newspaper, where he was responsible for editorial oversight, production processes, and aspects of corporate management.

In terms of academic qualifications, Tooki holds a Master of Business Administration from Obafemi Awolowo University, a Postgraduate Diploma in Journalism from the Nigerian Institute of Journalism, and a Bachelor’s degree in Language Arts from the University of Ilorin.

The APC congratulated Tooki on his appointment and expressed optimism about his contributions to the party’s leadership.

The party stated that it looks forward to benefiting from his experience, professionalism, and energy as he supports the National Chairman and the party’s broader objectives.
